Where do you find your inspiration?
Everywhere! I love looking for inspiration all around, in colors and textures in nature, in random patterns in the streets, in fashion, different cultures, different art movements in time, music lyrics, geometry, personal emotions, etc. I can find my inspiration in the most random of things.
We never knew patterns could be so intriguing until we saw hers!
What has been the best moment in your career?
I've had so many great collaborations, but I think my best moment happens on a daily basis. After arriving tired from the office, and just leaving all the stress behind and doodling freely. Those quite times with my favorite music and my sketchbook and pens are my best moments. Of course any one loves for their work to be recognized, but to me its so rewarding to be able to do so, that I just love being able to do it out of passion instead of always have to expect something in return.
What is your ideal day?
I think my ideal day would be waking up after 9am, in a place away from the city, maybe a beautiful beach. Where I could take a walk, listening to great music and being able just to enjoy the sight and finding a good spot to just doodle away.
Who is your role model?
There are so many people that I admire. I specially admire the people who have the guts to leave everything behind to follow their dreams or passions. I'm kind of obsessed with looking up for that kind of success stories. It just inspires me to be me, and to not give up on my dreams, despite all the negative comments you hear around you.
What is your dream project?
I think of a different dream project every day, but I think I would love to work on a textile line. I would love to travel around the world and design a series of patterns inspired by specific places. I don't know, just being able to work with patterns every single day for a living, would be dreamy to me.
What is the best piece of advice you have received?
I've received really good advice throughout the years, specially by my favorite person and bestest friend, my mom. However, my most favorite recent advice has been to "Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart!" found in Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, the book is amazing and it has been a huge inspiration to read it.
For what in life do you feel most grateful?
For all the people I have around me, for my parents and family who have been so supportive and loving. For my close friends, who are not many, but the ones who are have inspired me and made me grow in unimaginable ways. I am who I am today because of all the people that surround me.
If you could work with another artist, who would it be and what would you work on?
Tough question, there are so many artists that I admire deeply! I'm most recently obsessed with Mitch Gobel's work. He is such an inspiring human being and his resin art is just enchanting. I don't know what we would work on since our line of work is so different however thats the exciting part! Not knowing how two different pieces could connect but in the end, the most incredible things happen that way.
A personal favorite, so cool!
What's the single most important skill you've learned to be successful at creating art?
I would say, learning to be myself. For me, art was always a way of expression, I doodled out of pure bliss, it was my own personal therapy. But for a while, when people started noticing, I became focused on trying for it to appeal to them, or worrying to much about what people around me would think, if I would be criticised or "accepted." However, as time went by I knew that I was doing this for me, because I loved to do it, and once I accepted who I truly was, the process of creation once again was gratifying and special to me.
