When was the first moment you decided you wanted to be an artist?

I never decided to become an artist. I've been drawing and painting all my life and I'm a self taught artist, so one day I just became an artist.

Where do you find your inspiration?

In lot's of things. Most of my drawings involve people and animals. Especially animals, because they are more fun to draw then humans, because of the wide variety. Besides this I also got a lot of my inspiration out of architecture.

Human and animal? Check.

If you could work with another artist, who would it be? / who is your favorite artist?

Unfortunately he doesn't live anymore, but I'm a great fan of Jean Micheal Basquiat.

What has been the best moment in your career?

I enjoy every exhibition, but one of my exhibition was a very special one. I was personally invited by Leyla Aliyeva (presidents daughter of Azerbaijan) to exhibit my artwork at her gallery in London. It was a beautiful exhibition with red carpets, champagne and kaviar (not really my thing, but lot's of fun for once).

What is your ideal day?

Wake up slowly, drinking a cup of coffee in bed and just see what the day brings me. I like it when I don't have any plans and just do whatever I feel like.

Who is your role model?

I don't have one particular role model. Every person has it's own unique quality to be jealous about. I spot the beautiful quality's and try to make it work in my life too.

If you could do anything, what would it be?

To travel around the world for a few years. Meet lot's of new people and embrace their cultures.

Why do you create art?

It's not really something I control. I have a constant stream of images and ideas my mind and if I don't work them out, I become restless and unhappy. Creating art gives me a focus, a purpose and it makes me happy.

Not his style we're used to, but still awesome.

What art do you most identify with?

A lot of the times I get compared with MÇ. Esscher (as the next MC Esscher of Esscher 2.0). We both use a lot of structures and architecture in our art, but besides that there are a lot of differences. It is a huge compliment though. Personally I don;t identify my art with anything.

How has your art changed throughout your life?

Sometimes it becomes more complex, because I need to push my own boundaries. Sometimes it becomes more simple, because I've learned that the simplest of things can be just as beautiful. It's all about the perspective.

What is your dream project?

Perhaps a massive three dimensional optical illusion painting which will be hung in the Guggenheim.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

Don't worry about the things you can't control.
