Where do you find your inspiration?

I find my inspiration everyday, sometimes from thought, chatting with friends, my friends always bring me different point of view, and often funny, or a book I am reading usually about art, woman topic, adventures from traveling or story of everyday life. I also like to take a walk, specially in the city, park, garden, and forest, which cloud help me clear my mind, smell the fresh air making me happy, and easily pop out new inspirations. I visit museum and exhibition, art book store, and design shop to see whats new.

We're sensing a bit of London Calling?

What has been the best moment in your career?

When I decided to leave my job and going on a 3 months trip in Europe myself. It was my first time in Europe and traveling alone. I was so excited and I knew it was a big help for my career. The stay was so inspirational, which made me decided to be a freelance illustrator. I know I am being closer to my dream.

What is your ideal day?

Have a big hot cup of coffee in the morning, working with my lovely kitties around. Go to a farmer's market for some fresh fruits and vegetable for the day, also my favorite baguette, cheese, and wine. Cooking with my boyfriend and have a lunch together. Read a book with a sweet tart I baked, another cup of coffee in the afternoon. And take a walk in a park (sometimes slow, sometimes fast walking!!). A sofa movie night with my love at the end of day.

Any day spent eating these foods sounds perfect to us!

Who is your role model?

SNOOPY!!!! He is my favorite character in the whole world. The first time I met him I was 7 years old. He was on a cartoon Peanuts everyday afternoon at 4pm. I remember I fell in love with him and I even record the series and watched it over and over again.  I love his philosophy. He is simple but smart and talented dog.  He is sometimes a naughty and funny prankster, but he is also helpful and caring his friend Woodstock, Charle Brown and other.  He is everyone's teacher, problem solver, and a good friend.  I wish I could be as clever as him.

What would your cats say about Snoopy??!

What is your dream project?

Every illustration project is my dream, I am thankful any illustration project I got. Now I have a super big plan, which is launching a fashion brand with my sisters. I have 2 sisters, one is good at business, and another is creative in art and fashion. We plan to combine my illustration and her creativity in bag and accessory to launch our fashion line. We want to create a style of life, sharing our art and creativity.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

Dream what you want to dream;
Go where you want to go;
Be what you want to be;
Because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

For what in life do you feel most grateful?

To have my family. All the love I got from my family and best friends is supporting me chasing my dream. For me to quit my job and decided to work as a freelance is never easy. At the beginning it was difficult, sometimes I didn't know if what I choose is correct or not. I started to doubted myself. Sometimes being chased by reality. I am lucky my family is always there helping me and support me in every way. I really thank them.

Aww how sweet :)

If you could work with another artist, who would it be and what would you work on?

I admire the masters. Claude Monet, Mary Blair, Sempé, M.Sasek, I love their art so much. Their arts inspire me so much and bring me joy. I don't have chance to work with them, since some of them are already gone. But what I plan to do is have a project connected with them or their art. I want to do it one by one, so it must take so times. I am actually working on a project with a photographer Naomi Wu, who also a best friend. Her photo is lovely and charming. Our project is called "Urban Wicked", which combining my illustration and her photography. It's still in progress now. I can't wait to show you guys. You can find her work here -

What's the single most important skill you've learned to be successful at art?

Skills take times and talent. Technique is just a tool, which is helping me to bring out my thoughts and ideas, but forming and constructing my thoughts into art needs experiences. I am still learning how to transfer my thought and story to art and present to everyone in best way. I would said the most important skill is transforming thoughts to art. However, non stop drawing, be inspired, and be creative, be truly yourself are very important too.
